It is winter where I live, and we just had a snowfall, much to my children’s delight. We wrapped up warm, put on our rain boots and headed out into the winter wonderland. What made it especially fun is that this is not common for where we live. It was fun to be outside, and then it was fun to come inside again to the warmth of our home.
Sometimes winters are not so fun, especially when there are power cuts and no heating. Sometimes parts of our lives can feel like a snow day with a power cut, and where do we go to warm our hearts? Or perhaps we just grow cold and indifferent when the cold winds of bitterness and resentment blow all around us. But you must resist this! Do not let your heart become like an icicle. Find warmth, perhaps in sharing your heart with a trusted friend. Or shifting your focus off of yourself, by loving others unconditionally. Or finding someone worse off than yourself, and helping them. Or reading some age old wisdom in a book, that will set your perspective right again. Do whatever it takes to turn away from the cold winds that blow, and find shelter under the wings of love.
