Over the course of the past 100 years there has been a forward movement towards the liberation of women and equal rights. But what does it mean to be feminine? What does it mean to liberate a woman?
Is it allowing her to fulfill a job position that was previously only occupied by men? There has been great change in allowing women into professions that previously were only held by men. But what about the instances when she is expected to dress in a typically masculine way, and act in a masculine way to fulfill that role? Are their intrinsic differences between men and women? Though we cannot stereotype a whole segment of humanity, my life experience has shown that there are strengths that each gender tend to carry, and if a woman is expected to act like a man, then is she being liberated to express her unique strengths? What if a woman wants to work both inside and outside the home? Are our workplaces set up and organised in such a way that she can do both? Or does she have to choose one, and the other areas of her life suffer? How can we redefine how we do business and run organisations?
To truly liberate a woman is to allow her to be feminine.
